tandems

Next to in-person events, Transletting facilitates tandem translation exchanges. In these exchanges, writers – and people who occasionally write or find texts – are warmly invited to submit their work and get paired up with another submitter.

These tandem partners translate each other's work, and can choose to do so in whichever creative mode best suits them.
There is, for example, no requirement to speak (or have ‘mastered’) the other’s respective language, nor to translate within the borders of a respective genre. They can translate each other's work faithfully and homophonically, focus on the appearance of and diacritical signs in the text, dive deep into the text’s etymology, or work to surpass literature as a medium. In keeping with Transletting’s commitment to openness and creativity, these attempts are seen as opportunities for discovery within writing, translation, and language.
