Transletting 2026

  • From February 20 to February 22, Transletting is going to team up with Versatorium in Vienna to host the second edition of Hannah Arendt Lesen. At Am Modenapark in Vienna’s third district, everyone is invited to join in for having a close look at Hannah Arendt’s working with language(s).
    With kind support by Hannah Arendt Center and Versatorium as well as La Sapienza University Rome.

    Was bedeutet es Hannah Arendt zu lesen, eine Autorin?, Philosophin?, Theoretikerin?, die sowohl auf Englisch als auch auf Deutsch schrieb und ihre eigenen Texte, manchmal im Abstand von mehreren Jahren, selbst übersetzte und im Übersetzen neu schrieb? Wir blicken ergebnisoffen auf Hannah Arendts Spracharbeit, auf ihre Metaphern und Bilder, ihre Sprachnetze und die Unterschiede, Gemeinsamkeiten, Unvergleichbarkeiten in ihrem deutschsprachigen und englischen Schreiben. Wir wollen Gegenlesen, Parallellesen, Drüberlegen und Durchlesen, Überfliegen, Übertragen, Unterscheiden. Für die Teilnahme bedarf es ausdrücklich keiner Vorkenntnisse zu Hannah Arendt und ihren Texten!

    Für den Hauptteil wollen wir uns auf Die Unwiderruflickeit des Getanen und die Macht zu Verzeihen aus der Vita activa fokussieren.

  • Transletting is returning to Italy for tandem events as well as Lesen and workshops. More details to be announced soon.

    Dopo il nostro scambio di marzo 2025, così ricco e stimolante vorremmo creare anche per marzo 2026  una nuova occasione per ritrovarci, pensare e leggere insieme.

  • For June of 2026, all tandem participants are warmly invited to come together in Leipzig (Saxony) in Germany for readings of the translations as well as for participating in workshops elaborated together. More details to be announced by February 2026.

    Issues of housing and financing will be addressed.

  • For September 2026, Transletting is returning to New York City and the United States for a third time for workshops, tandem readings and further translation and literary events.

  • For the end of the year 2026, Transletting is planning on extending its collaborations and events to Colombia and Latin America.

  • For 2027, Transletting is looking for partners to elaborate events and tandems in the land of the rising sun 日本.

Next to in-person events, Transletting also facilitates tandem translation exchanges.


In these exchanges, writers – and people who occasionally write or find texts – are invited to submit their work and get paired up with another submitter. These tandem partners translate each other's work, and can choose to do so in whichever creative mode best suits them. There is, for example, no requirement to speak (or have ‘mastered’) the other’s respective language, nor to translate within the borders of a respective genre.
